I hold an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Management, a Bachelor's Degree in English, and a Master's Degree in Multicultural Education. Course Description
ENC1102 is an advanced course that builds upon and goes beyond what you learned in ENC1101. The skills that were developed in ENC1101 will be reinforced in this class. This is a very demanding course that requires critical reading and thinking skills. Selected readings from short stories, poetry, and drama provide topics for the discussion boards and writing assingments. We explore all three of the above genres using themes such as, Humor, Satire & Irony, Home & Family, American Culture, Love & Longing, Mortality, and Education.
Methods of Instruction
This fully online course is structured to be an independent but integrated class. You will have reading assignments from the three genres of short stories, poetry and drama. There will be discussion boards that will require regular responses. In addition, there will be six (6) papers written about the readings using critical analysis techniques. This is a 3-credit hour course or 48 hours per term. These courses usually meet two to three times per week with out-of-class assignments that require 2-3 hours, so plan to give the amount of time to this course that it deserves. In addition, there are some dramas that are best watched rather than read. You have the option of reading the drama; most appear in the textbook. There are no tests, but with the six papers and the responses required on the discussion boards, your assessment will be determined by your promptness and participation.

Learning Outcomes
-- Continued progression of expository and literary writing skills
